We love makeup, it’s one of our favourite self-care rituals in the morning to get us prepared for the day ahead, and is also the perfect time to unleash a bit of creativity by playing with new products and colours.
With being in and out of lockdowns for most of the past two years, our makeup routine got a bit stale. We got used to using the same products, and the same everyday makeup – so much so that makeup didn’t even seem fun anymore.
But this year, things are going to be different. Now that we’re out and about more, we can play around with makeup, experiment with products, and improve our routines.
Here are our 5 top tips for better makeup looks in 2022:
- Prime your skin
Have you ever been in such a rush to do your makeup that you forgot to moisturise? If you’ve ever been in this situation, you probably learnt the hard way that makeup does not go on very well when you haven’t prepped your skin properly.
For a flawless, long-lasting base, you should never forget about primer. You can either use a good priming moisturiser or use a separate primer under your foundation.
It will help your makeup stick to your face better and smooth out your skin so you have a truly blank canvas to work with.
- Choose a foundation for your skin type
A good makeup look really all comes down to the base, your foundation.
Picking out a foundation that’s made for your skin type will make all the difference; it will add much-needed glow if you have dry skin or will blur pores and mattify the skin if you have oily skin.
- Chose colours that compliment your complexion
You probably know about the different complexion undertones; warm, cool and neutral, when it comes to picking out your foundation and concealer shades. Did you know that you should also keep these in mind when picking out your blushes, bronzers and eyeshadows?
Picking out shades that compliment your complexion will make such a difference, and create a more flattering makeup look.
- Come up with your own signature look and perfect it
Whether you want to experiment with winged eyeliner, a smokey eye or a dramatic lip, figure out what you want your ‘signature look’ to be – then practice and perfect it.
The more you do one makeup look, the better you’ll get it, then you’ll have perfect makeup at all times.
- Use a setting spray
Our final tip is to always use a setting spray. This will lock your makeup in and have you looking absolutely perfect all day, no matter what you’re doing.
