Expert tips for teenage skin

When you’re in your teens, your whole body is going through a lot of changes – including your skin.
Constant breakouts may be popping up on your face, or you might start to notice your skin becoming more oily or sensitive than usual.

All of these things are very normal and can be a result of the change in hormones that are going crazy as you hit your teenage years.

If you’re struggling with your skin at the moment, there are plenty of teenager-approved tips that you can follow to keep your skin clear and happy. Keep on reading to find out what they are…

  • Make sure to wash your face properly with the right kind of cleanser

Cleaning your face every evening is extremely important. This helps to remove any makeup, dirt, grime, or sweat from your face which can be other common causes of breakouts.

Because your hormones are already causing pimples, you want to prevent anything else from wreaking havoc on your skin – and washing it daily with a mild, gentle cleanser is the easiest way to do this.

Find a cleanser that suits your skin type, and if in doubt, just go for the gentlest one you can find that won’t leave your skin feeling stripped or dry.

  • Use acne-fighting ingredients in your skincare routine

There are plenty of skincare products out there that are targeted at banishing blemishes. You can find cleansers and serums that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which are both powerful ingredients for teenage skin.

You can also buy pimple patches that clear up blemishes, or targeted spot treatments that you can apply directly to the spot to clear everything up in just a few days.

  • Avoid touching your face whenever possible

Whenever you touch your face, you may be unknowingly transferring lots of oil, dirt, and bacteria to your skin which could result in annoying breakouts.

If you do touch your face, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly to keep acne to a minimum.

  • Stick to a routine

When you’re trying to improve your skin, consistency really is key. Once you’ve found a routine of products that you like for morning and evening, try to do the same routine every day without changing it up too frequently.

Skincare is a long process and not something that you’ll see huge improvements from right away, so remember to be patient!
