How to create your own anti-aging skincare routine?
As we get older, it’s not unusual to feel like we’re still young at heart. In order to make sure our faces match how we feel inside, we need to take good care of our skin.

While the aging process is entirely natural, and indeed beautiful, there are a few things we can do to whip our skincare routine into shape, to help give our skin a more youthful glow. To help you make the switch to a wrinkle-busting skincare routine, we’ve put together a quick guide.

Creamy cleansers are your new best friend
Whatever age we are, cleansing is the cornerstone of a good skincare routine. Not only does cleansing help to remove dirt, but it gets rid of make-up, bacteria, and pollutants.

However, as we age, we need to be careful to avoid cleansers that contain ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, benzoyl peroxide, and alcohol, as these ingredients dry the skin out. Instead, opt for a creamy cleanser as it will moisturize your skin as well as wash it.

Add a serum to your routine
There’s a reason that everyone seems to be going crazy over serums: they work! They’re capable of penetrating the skin better than moisturizers, helping to hydrate and brighten the skin more effectively.

When choosing the right serum for your skin, make sure the ingredients won’t clash with any other products in your routine. For example, retinols don’t mix well with AHA/BHA acids, so don’t use them together as it can lead to dryness and irritation.

Drive up the moisture levels
As you age, collagen, and hyaluronic levels in the skin decrease, which can lead to more noticeable fine lines and wrinkles. These days, many moisturizers contain hyaluronic acid as a key ingredient, so look out for it on the label, as it will do wonders for increasing the moisture levels in your skin.

Make sure to apply moisturizer both in the morning and at evening time, and don’t neglect the neck and décolleté areas.

Remember the eyes!
One of the natural consequences of aging is that dark circles under the eyes become more pronounced, as our skin thins and the blood vessels beneath become more visible. Help to combat this by using eye cream as well as your regular moisturizer.

Wear sunscreen
While many of us are fans of a golden glow, sun damage will only accelerate the aging process. To help combat this, use a moisturizer that contains SPF.

Following the tips above with set you on the right path when it comes to perfecting an anti-aging routine. But remember, factors such as sleep and eating habits will also play a role, so paying attention to your overall health will do wonders for the condition of your skin.
